Sun at last!

Today the weather was glorious - and about time too! We went down to Dartmouth and fell in love at once - it is so pretty and there are lots of beautiful, coloured houses, little boutique shops and gift shops - I could have spent the day browsing, but we did promise the kids we'd take them to Blackpool Sands beach. The sky was so blue it looked like we were abroad somewhere. Though it was a little deceptive - the sea was arctic in temperature!

My beautiful niece Skyla

Look at how gorgeous she is! It was really nice having her and her mum Epiphany over for the weekend - and my mum too, proud granny thrice over that she is.

She's the spitting image of her daddy - my brother Ben

The School Disco

Ben danced around all night like a puppy on speed, whilst Jasmine, unusually bashful, sat on the periphery sucking her fingers whilst observing the other children getting their groove on.
Oh, and Ben won the animal corners game, which earned him much congratulatory back slapping and cheering from the older boys - he was soooo pleased with himself, as were we!

just a blur!

too shy to join in....aaaahhhh

Yes we can!

I feel so privileged to have witnessed such an amazing moment in history during my lifetime. Barack Obama, first ever black President of the USA, most powerful man in the world. I have been greatly inspired by him and his speeches, and for the first time, have actually been interested in politics. I even stayed up and watched the election night until 5:30am this morning, despite having to get up for work at 6:30am. Admittedly, I fell asleep at around 5:15am - towards the end of Obama's victory speech, but awoke just after he finished it (much to my dismay - it's what I'd been waiting for all night). The high of witnessing this amazing event kept me surprisingly alert during work today, but I know it'll catch up with me eventually - I haven't pulled an all-nighter since uni, and youth is less on my side at the grand old age of 26 with two kids and a full time job!

Oh yeah, and did I mention how handsome he is.....

By the way, Nick was all prepared to stay up and watch the elections with me. He even woke me up when I fell asleep at one point by shoving a plate of hotdogs in my face! Alas, he was unable to stand the pace and this is how he spent election night:
