I feel so privileged to have witnessed such an amazing moment in history during my lifetime. Barack Obama, first ever black President of the USA, most powerful man in the world. I have been greatly inspired by him and his speeches, and for the first time, have actually been interested in politics. I even stayed up and watched the election night until 5:30am this morning, despite having to get up for work at 6:30am. Admittedly, I fell asleep at around 5:15am - towards the end of Obama's victory speech, but awoke just after he finished it (much to my dismay - it's what I'd been waiting for all night). The high of witnessing this amazing event kept me surprisingly alert during work today, but I know it'll catch up with me eventually - I haven't pulled an all-nighter since uni, and youth is less on my side at the grand old age of 26 with two kids and a full time job!
Oh yeah, and did I mention how handsome he is.....
By the way, Nick was all prepared to stay up and watch the elections with me. He even woke me up when I fell asleep at one point by shoving a plate of hotdogs in my face! Alas, he was unable to stand the pace and this is how he spent election night:
