When the kids are away, the parents will....

....PAAAARTTTTTYYYYY!

The Pony made me do it

The kids had been in Leicester for the weekend, then spent the rest of the week in Nottingham. Although I love having time to myself, I only need a day or two before I get unbearably bored. I don't want to spend my 'time off' cleaning or doing laundry, so I spent most of my time after work reading and missing my babies :-( The reading is good, but the missing them, not so. Friday night though, we both got to let our hair down at the Audley Summer Party (Nick's work, my former work). To say I let loose was an understatement! It certainly wasn't nice waking up the next morning knowing that we needed to go to Leicester to pick up some of our stuff from my dad's garage, then on to Nottingham to get the kids. We didn't arrive back home until after 1am sunday and I felt completely ruined.

Oh yeah, whilst we were in Leicester, we stopped by the Caribbean Carnival and I saw a great display of British resolve and Caribbean creativity. Resolve because the skies caved in on us and released a torrent of rain, yet the parade continued and the people came and participated (Ahh, only the Brits!). Creativity because the costumes were fantastic - some of the troupes even had the ingenious foresight tf build unbrellas into the costume designs!!! Fantastic!

Nick braved the showers and stood outside the Aba Shanti Soundsystem (if they aren't at the Carnival it aint worth going!) with a pink, polka dot umbrella!!! That's how determined he was to experience the sheer belly rumbling, body slamming bass that is the Aba Shanti Soundsystem. I love them too, but I hate that kind of rain more, so I missed them this year :-(

Yep, times like that I really miss the cultural diversity of Leicester....and yes I think the Pony whispered it's name to me and it sounded very much like Tequila - with a capital 'T'. We are no longer friends though because I realised the next day that I don't like tequila and I don't like what it does to my head and tummy the morning after :-(
