who's there?
'Doctor'
'Doctor who?'
'you just said it, Dr Who!'
Ok, I know. It's a terrible joke. but it's still a lot better than the ones Ben has been subjecting us to for the past month or so. I decided early on that it was best not to let him think that a crap joke is funny - otherwise how is he supposed to learn? Instead, when he tells a really bad one that neither makes sense, nor is even remotely able to be considered a joke, I give him a big fat 'BOOOOO!', complete with a thumbs down. On the other hand, when he tells a good one he gets a round of applause and some much overdone laughter. Jasmine is smart, she listens to and remembers the jokes which win applause and only tells these ones. ie, 'why did the car blush?' 'Because the traffic lights were changing!'
Ben is so determined to tell the perfect joke that we have listened to endless attempts (most unsuccessful, but we are turning a corner now he understands what makes a joke). He even scours the internet for jokes (popfun.co.uk) and listens out for the ones on the children's channels on TV. It is so cute though, if tiring at times!
